Franchise Anonymous 51+52: executive coaching or kitchen remodeling?
Which one fits the bill for you?
Happy Monday, folks.
As a franchise consultant, I hear pitches from hundreds of different franchise concepts every year.
I’m taking the most interesting ones, and telling you:
What sets them apart
One potential weakness
Who the ideal buyer is
My promise: you’ll learn something about franchising every time.
Today’s mystery franchises: executive coaching and kitchen remodeling.
The business: Executive coaching playbook
Most coaching franchises are either vague on structure or heavy on the fluff. This one is unusually buttoned-up. It’s built around the proven methods of a well-known business trainer and backed by an established franchise network. Think “white-collar consulting,” but with a system.
What they do differently
Built on the Brian Tracy method. Most coaching concepts are either DIY or trendy. This one leans on decades of business material from a recognizable name. That means credibility out of the gate, plus a deep library of structured content you don’t have to invent.
Fixed royalty, not a percentage. Instead of giving up a slice of revenue, you pay a flat monthly fee. For higher performers, that’s a much better deal—and it keeps your margins clean.
Work from anywhere, work with anyone. No territory restrictions, no office lease. You can build a local client base or go national if you want. That flexibility matters if you’re well-connected but geographically mobile.
🚩Potential weakness: You are the product. This is not a passive business. If you’re not comfortable selling yourself as the expert in the room—and delivering on that promise—it’s going to be a tough road.
The takeaway:
Ideal for someone with real business chops—whether that’s from corporate leadership, consulting, or entrepreneurship. You don’t need to build a team or stock a warehouse, but you do need gravitas and the discipline to sell and deliver consistently. This can scale, but only if you can.

The business: Kitchen remodeling, but lighter
Most remodeling franchises dive headfirst into six-week timelines, punch lists, and dust. This one keeps it simpler. Faster turnarounds, lighter updates, and a service-first approach built more for volume than complexity.
What they do differently
Five tiers of service. It’s not just cabinets or full remodels. They’ve got a menu: cabinet painting, redooring, refacing, tune-ups, and full custom builds. That gives franchisees options to fit nearly any budget—and stack revenue from upsells.
Home-based with subcontractors. You don’t need a showroom or massive crew. Most franchisees run this from home with 2–4 employees and a couple of subs. It keeps overhead low and lets you grow gradually.
Backed by a serious parent company. Kitchen Tune-Up is part of Home Franchise Concepts, which is owned by a $22B holding company. That’s not just name-dropping—it means established systems, resources, and infrastructure you don’t get with a startup brand.
🚩Potential weakness: Still involves managing trades. You’re not swinging the hammer, but you are coordinating schedules, hiring painters, and dealing with subcontractors. If that’s not your jam, this won’t be either.
The takeaway:
This is a fit for someone who wants a scalable home services business without a huge upfront investment or a lease. You don’t need remodeling experience—but you do need to be organized, sales-driven, and comfortable managing people. Strong unit economics, multiple revenue streams, and lots of white space left.
