Franchise Anonymous 47+48: Full-serve home care or pre-sale home prep?
Which one fits the bill for you?
Happy Sunday, folks.
As a franchise consultant, I hear pitches from hundreds of different franchise concepts every year.
I’m taking the most interesting ones, and telling you:
What sets them apart
One potential weakness
Who the ideal buyer is
My promise: you’ll learn something about franchising every time.
Today’s mystery franchises: full-spectrum home care and pre-sale home prep.
The business: Full-spectrum home care
Most senior care franchises stick to the non-medical side—companionship, light chores, and maybe some transportation. This one goes deeper. It blends non-medical and skilled care, targeting a wider client base and more revenue per household.
What they do differently
More than just senior care. In addition to typical aging-in-place services, this model includes post-surgery recovery, dementia support, and even hospice care. That diversity brings more referral sources—and more ways to stay relevant to each client longer.
VA and national accounts drive demand. Roughly a third of clients come from large-scale partnerships, including a hefty chunk from the VA. That means built-in business from day one in many markets.
Unit economics are strong. Top-performing territories average over $1.6M by year three. That’s well above the industry norm—and suggests strong support systems and a replicable growth model.
🚩Potential weakness: You’ll work for it. This isn’t a passive gig. Plan on spending at least 25 hours a week early on, dealing with staff, compliance, and client care. It’s a people-heavy business, and that comes with all the usual people problems.
The takeaway:
If you want to build something meaningful—and are willing to put in real effort—this is a strong, scalable option. You don’t need a medical background, but leadership, empathy, and a tolerance for paperwork will take you far. It’s not glamorous, but it’s vital.

The business: Pre-sale home prep
Most contractors avoid realtors. Too picky, too last-minute, too much hassle. This brand runs straight at that market—offering streamlined, fast-turnaround make-ready services for homes about to hit the market.
What they do differently
Five core services, one point of contact. Instead of homeowners chasing a painter, a cleaner, a landscaper, and a flooring guy, this brand handles it all. Think: one quote, one project manager, and a house that’s ready to list.
Fast quotes, faster starts. Real estate is deadline-driven. This brand promises a quote within 24 hours and project kickoff within 2–5 days. Most contractors can’t even return a call that fast, let alone start the job.
Lean and subcontractor-friendly. You’re not managing a giant payroll. Franchisees run a business development/project management operation and use dedicated subs for the actual work. That keeps it asset-light and scalable.
🚩Potential weakness: Relies on local relationship-building. Realtors are gatekeepers here. If you’re not comfortable doing outreach, pitching yourself, and staying top of mind with local brokerages, this model may stall.
The takeaway:
Ideal for someone who can sell, manage projects, and likes the idea of working in the real estate ecosystem without becoming a realtor. No license required. Just hustle, people skills, and the ability to make things happen on a tight timeline.
